PURNA is based on WINISIS database management system developed by UNESCO and it is inherited with all its storage, retrieval and presentation capabilities. In setting up of the system a user has two options: a) creation of a single database to handle all functions b) creation of a main database with a several sub-databases to handle individual functions. In the latter option, duplication of data entry is not required as sub-databases will be developed by exporting data from the main database. A user can select one or more functions (modules) at the beginning and subsequently add on other functions. The system would not be disturbed by adding modules.
